The Juice Review: Burlesque Soundtrack.

07/12/2010 14:58

'Burlesque' is the movie debut by singer Christina    Aguilera and the first film by Cher in 10 years. Its soundtrack confirms that Christina is still the Voice of the Generation and that Cher’s still got it. Listen to it here.

Here’s a brief evaluation of each song:

 1.  “Something’s Got a Hold on Me”: Kudos to Etta James, the original singer of the song. We should thank Etta for guiding her to develop her fantastic voice since her childhood. This Tricky-Stewart-produced gem features startling vocals from Xtina which she then showed off when she performed it live.

2.  “Welcome to Burlesque”: The first original song by Cher in the album. This is a pretty sexy song that could relax you everywhere thanks to her soothing voice.

3.  “Tough Lover”: In this song, Xtina lets everyone see that she’s very demanding when getting her guy. She likes them tough, and girl, you’re going to get anyone you want. Listening to the intro, you’ll get plenty of goosebumps due to her vocal ability, and any tough lover will want to be with you to hear more of that.

4.  “I’m a Good Girl”: her powerful voice changes to be sexy delicate, but still fantastic. The song is tipsy, even more when seeing the movie performance where she says she’s a good girl regardless her bawdy outfit and sexy moves.

5.  “Guy What Takes His Time”: In this pretty cover that was arranged by Linda Perry, Christina’s voice is on point, very relaxed and also a little tipsy but with class. Old-school & very enjoyable.

6.  “Express”: My favorite song of the album. Written by the amazing Claude Kelly and Xtina herself, this tune will take you higher to the Burlesque world where you’ll be owned by its catchy lyrics. The instrumental is sensational and the movie performance is a must–see, it gives much more life to the song.

7.  "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me”: Cher’s voice is no joke! This ballad is very touching and there she unleashes a extraordinary vocal performance.

8.  "Bound to You": I love you Sia & Sam! Both of you form a valuable team! This is one of Christina's best ballads ever. She definitely shows off her voice and along with the lyrics, it will probably make you want to cry. The song is very moving and she could prove the amazing vocals she added to the song, when she performed it at Jay Leno. I can absolutely see her receiving an Oscar and a Grammy for this!

9.  “Show Me How You Burlesque”: Perhaps the strongest song of the album. It’s the final number of the film which will make you want to move with its upbeat sound. After being marveled with the song, you won’t believe that there is any other better Burlesque song out there.

10. The Beautiful People: A perfect closure for the album. It’s just so much that you’ll set it in repeat and will be stuck in your head for a long time. Her voice is incredible as always and one of the most prominent features is the Marilyn Manson sample which bizarrely gives a rock touch to a campy song, what a delightful mixture!

To sum up, I highly recommend this album if you like good pop music, and despite being influenced by old-school beats, it already topped the iTunes US chart, which proves that it’s so precious that’s it’s being successful in a monotonous electro-loving world.what are your thoughts?

 I think it deserves a 10/10

The Juice Review: T.I. ft Christina Aguilera - Castle Walls

01/12/2010 00:58

T.I. & Christina Aguilera

Straight from jail, rapper T.I. makes a return to everyone's radar with a new song that just leaked, joining him in this new potential-next-number-one is none other than Christina Aguilera. Listen below.

The sizzling track starts off with a haunting chorus with nothing more than Aguilera 's soothing vocals harmonizing with the piano. T.I. then picks the song up & carries it on for the next few verses, his lyrics brought out a different side of the rapper that his fans haven't seen before which is T.I. the father. In the end it was just pure raw emotions, Xtina's vocals were on point.

The two superstars have beeen planning a collaboration for almost 3 years now, and after hearing the outcome I can see it was def worth the wait! The voices sound really good together.  What makes this song so special is the emotional lyrics behind it, & the meaning it conveys. Its a song anyone can relate to.

The Alex Da Kid produced track has been compared by some to 'Love The Way You Lie' by Eminem & Rihanna , & 'Airplaines' by B.O.B. & Hailey Williams, maybe because he produced all 3 of them?

As far as if there chance for it to be a hit? we can say yeah even though some might argue, will it be a timeless classic for years to come? No doubt about it.

In our own Hit Meter we can give it a 9/10.
